Bulgaria: Consumer prices decrease again in May
June 13, 2016
In May, consumer prices were unchanged over the previous month, which mirrored April’s reading. According to the National Statistical Institute, the flat reading was the result of a mix of price increases and decreases across categories. A surge in prices for transport did not compensate for the fall in prices for the other goods.
On an annual basis, consumer prices fell 2.0% in May, which was a smaller drop than the 2.2% decrease recorded in April. Meanwhile, annual average variation in consumer prices was slightly lower in May than in April, inching down from minus 0.4% to minus 0.6%.
