Bulgaria: Industry improves in April

In April, industrial output rose 5.0% over the same month last year in working-day adjusted terms according to the National Statistical Institute. The figure marked an improvement over the revised 3.6% increase recorded in March (previously reported: +4.2% year-on-year). April’s expansion resulted from a rebound in manufacturing as well as in mining and quarrying.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial production rose a seasonally-adjusted 1.4% in March, which contrasted the 1.5% decrease recorded in the previous month. The figure marked the fastest expansion in three months. Annual average growth in industrial production rose from 0.5% in March to 1.0% in April—the fastest growth pace since April 2012.
