Bulgaria: Industrial production rebounds in August
October 8, 2012
In August, industrial output added 2.0% over the same month last year in working-day adjusted terms. The print contrasted the 0.5% drop observed in July and was underpinned by healthy growth in all categories, including energy production, which rebounded after six consecutive contractions. A month-on-month assessment confirms the improvement suggested by the annual figures, as industrial production grew a seasonally adjusted 1.0% over the previous month, which was above the flat reading recorded in July. The trend, however, continues to suggest a slowdown in the industrial sector, with annual average growth in industrial production inching down from 0.4% in July to 0.3% in August, the lowest level since November 2010.
