Bulgaria: Industrial production jumps in February
April 7, 2011
In February, industrial production expanded 15.2% in working-day adjusted terms over the same month last year. The result was well above the 8.6% rise recorded in January and marked the fastest pace of growth since June 2004. A month-on-month comparison does not corroborate the robust annual figure, as industrial production contracted 1.4% over the previous month in seasonally adjusted terms (January: +2.4% month-on-month). However, the trend continues to improve, with the annual average variation in industrial production rising from 2.8% in January to 4.7% in February, which marked the fourth positive reading since November 2010. The government expects the economy to expand 3.6% this year and 4.1% in 2012.
