Bulgaria Industrial production March 2017

Bulgaria: Industrial production growth accelerates in March

May 9, 2017

In March, industrial production grew 5.9% from the same month last year in working-day adjusted terms (February: +4.7% year-on-year), which was the highest print since July 2015. March’s expansion was mainly driven by strong growth in the manufacturing sector, which more than compensated for contractions in the mining and the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sectors.

A month-on-month comparison showed that industrial production grew a seasonally-adjusted 0.8% in March, which followed the 3.9% increase registered in the preceding month. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production was 2.9% in March, just slightly above February’s 2.8%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see industrial production expanding 3.4% in 2017, which is unchanged from last month’s Consensus. For 2018, panelists also see industrial output growing 3.4%.
