Bulgaria: Industrial production expands in October

In October, industrial output rose 0.4% over the same month last year in working-day adjusted terms, according to the National Statistical Institute. The figure marked an improvement over September’s zero growth (previously reported: -0.4%). October’s expansion was driven by an improvement in electricity, gas, steam and air condition. In contrast, manufacturing output decelerated in October compared to September.

On a month-on-month basis, industrial production increased a seasonally-adjusted 0.5% in October, which was below the 1.8% expansion (previously reported: +1.2%) recorded in the previous month. In addition, average growth in industrial production fell from September’s 2.3% increase (previously reported: 2.2%) to a 1.9% rise.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see industrial production expanding 2.9% in 2014, which is unchanged from last month’s Consensus. For 2015, panelists see industrial output growing 11.1%, which is also unchanged from the previous month’s forecast.
