Bulgaria: Growth in industrial production slows in December

February 9, 2015

In December, industrial output expanded 0.9% over the same month of the previous year in working-day adjusted terms, according to the National Statistical Institute. The figure marked a slight deceleration over November’s 1.1% growth. December’s moderation mostly reflected contractions in mining and quarrying as well as in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning. Conversely, growth in manufacturing output accelerated in December.

On a month-on-month basis, industrial production increased a seasonally-adjusted 1.1% in December, which was above the 0.9% expansion recorded in the previous month. In the full year 2014, industrial production expanded 1.7%, which was above the flat reading tallied in 2013.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see industrial production expanding 2.9% in 2015, which is down 0.7 percentage points from last month’s Consensus. For 2016, panelists see industrial output growing 10.4%.
