Bulgaria: Growth in industrial production accelerates in May

In May, industrial output expanded 3.9% over the same month last year in working-day adjusted terms, according to the National Statistical Institute. The figure was above April’s 1.5% increase. May’s reading was the highest in a year and reflected steeper increases in all sectors, with manufacturing and electricity, gas and steam recording the most notable expansions.

On a month-on-month basis, industrial production increased a seasonally-adjusted 0.6% in May, which was above the 0.2% expansion recorded in the previous month and marked a four-month high. Nevertheless, average growth in industrial production in May remained stable at April’s 1.0%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see industrial production expanding 2.9% in 2015, which is down 0.3 percentage points from last month’s Consensus. For 2016, panelists see industrial output growing 9.9%.
