Bulgaria: Growth in industrial production accelerates in August

In August, industrial output expanded 4.3% over the same month last year in working-day adjusted terms, according to the National Statistical Institute. The figure was above July’s 3.4% increase. August’s reading came on the back of expansions in electricity, gas and steam as well as manufacturing.

On a month-on-month basis, industrial production rose a seasonally-adjusted 0.1% in August, which contrasted July’s 0.8% fall. As a consequence, average growth in industrial production in August increased from July’s 1.7% to 2.2%, which marked the highest value in almost a year.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see industrial production expanding 3.1% in 2015, which is up 0.3 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2016, panelists see industrial output growing 3.5%, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast.
