Bulgaria: Growth in industrial production accelerates in September

In September, industrial production in Bulgaria grew 3.3% from the same month last year in working-day adjusted terms, accelerating from August’s 2.6% increase. September’s result reflected an acceleration in manufacturing. Within the manufacturing category, fabricated metal products registered the highest growth.

A month-on-month comparison showed that industrial production contracted a seasonally-adjusted 0.2% in September, which contrasted the 0.6% expansion registered in the preceding month. Annual average growth in industrial production inched up from 2.0% in August to 2.2% in September, the highest reading in 3 months.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see industrial production expanding 2.6% in 2016, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s Consensus. For 2017, panelists see industrial output growing 3.3%.
