Bulgaria: Growth in industrial production accelerates in November

January 8, 2016

In November, industrial production rose 1.7% over the same month last year in working-day adjusted terms, according to the National Statistical Institute, which was above October’s 1.2% increase and marked a three-month high. November’s reading came on the back of a rebound in mining and quarrying, which more than offset slight deteriorations in manufacturing and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning.

On a month-on-month basis, industrial production rose a seasonally-adjusted 0.8% in November, which was above the 0.3% rise recorded in the previous month. As a result, average growth in industrial production inched up from October’s 2.4% to 2.5% in November, which marked the highest reading since July 2014.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see industrial production expanding 2.8% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s Consensus. For 2017, panelists see industrial output growing 3.3%.
