Bulgaria Industrial production October 2017

Bulgaria: Growth in industrial output slows further in October

December 8, 2017

In October, industrial production expanded 2.8% over the same month last year in working-day adjusted terms (September: +3.2% year-on-year). The moderation in October reflects a slowdown in output in the mining and quarrying industry and a sharp contraction in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector. The manufacturing sector, however, picked up steam.

A month-on-month comparison shows that industrial production decreased a seasonally-adjusted 0.6% in October, which contrasts the 0.3% expansion in September. Annual average growth in industrial production was 4.4% in October, up from 4.1% in September.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see industrial production expanding 3.6% in 2018, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2019, panelists see industrial output growing 3.1%.
