Brazil: Consumer confidence falls in July
July 26, 2017
The consumer confidence index published by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV, Fundaçao Getúlio Vargas) decreased a seasonally-adjusted 0.4% from the previous month in July. The index fell from June’s 82.3 to 82.0. The deterioration was driven by consumers’ more pessimistic views regarding both the current and future economic situation compared to the previous month.
The FGV confidence index spans a range from 1 to 200 points, where 100 points is considered neutral. The index currently lies deep in pessimistic territory.
