Belgium: Industrial production rebounds in July

In July, industrial production rose a seasonally-adjusted 2.2% over the previous month. The reading contrasted the revised 2.2% contraction (previously reported: -2.1% month-on-month) registered in June and marked a four-month high. July’s result reflected a broad-based improvement in the index.

In annual terms, industrial production fell 1.7% in July, swinging from a revised 0.6% rise in June (previously reported: +0.8% year-on-year). As a result, annual average growth in industrial output ticked up from minus 0.8% in June to minus 0.6% in July.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect that industrial output will expand 1.4% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2016, the panel sees industrial production picking up to a 2.5% increase.
