Belgium: Industrial production growth accelerates in July

September 23, 2016

In July, industrial production increased a seasonally-adjusted 1.9% over the previous month, which was above the 1.2% registered in June and represented a 6-months high. The increase came despite two of the three components registering contractions; only the manufacturing component posted a positive reading in July.

In annual terms, industrial production expanded 0.9% in July, coming in far below the 5.2% rise in June. Meanwhile, annual average growth edged up from 3.0% in June to an over four-year high of 3.2% in July.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to expand 2.9% in 2016, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2017, the panel sees industrial production growth slowing to 2.2%.
