Belgium: Industrial production grows in October

In October, industrial production in Belgium increased a seasonally-adjusted 1.4% from the previous month, a significant improvement from the revised 2.7% decrease registered in September (previously reported: -0.7% seasonal-adjusted month-on-month). The increase was mainly driven by an expansion in both the manufacturing and the construction sectors.

In annual terms, industrial production fell 0.8% in October, below September’s 1.4% rise. Meanwhile, annual average growth remained stable at September’s 4.1%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to expand 2.2% in 2017, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2018, the panel sees industrial production growth slowing to 1.4%.
