Belgium: Industrial production contracts in February

In February, industrial production fell a seasonally-adjusted 3.3% over the previous month. The reading contrasted the 1.3% expansion registered in January. February’s result reflected a broad-based deterioration across industries.

In year-on-year terms, industrial production fell 4.6%, which marked a deterioration over January’s 0.8% contraction. As a result, annual average growth in industrial output ticked down from plus 0.5% in January to minus 0.4% in February.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect that industrial output will expand 1.4% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2016, the panel sees industrial production slowing down to 2.5% increase.
