Belgium: Industrial production contracts in April

June 25, 2015

In April, industrial production fell a seasonally-adjusted 1.3% over the previous month. The reading contrasted the 3.3% expansion registered in March. April’s result reflected a broad-based deterioration across industries.

In year-on-year terms, industrial production swung from a 4.5% rise in March to a 1.0% contraction in April. As a result, annual average growth in industrial output ticked down from minus 0.1% in March to minus 0.3% in April.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect that industrial output will expand 1.4% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2016, the panel sees industrial production picking up to a 2.5% increase.
