Belgium: Flash estimates see stable growth in Q3

According to a preliminary estimate released by the National Bank of Belgium on 28 October, Belgian GDP in Q3 expanded a seasonally-adjusted 0.2% over the previous quarter. Q3’s reading marks a weaker expansion than the 0.5% increase in Q2.

Compared to the same period of last year, GDP grew 1.2%, mirroring Q2’s reading. More detailed data will be published on 30 November.

The National Bank of Belgium expects the economy to increase 1.3% in 2016 and 1.5% in 2017. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect the economy to expand 1.4% in 2016, which is unchanged over the previous month’s Consensus. For 2017, the panel also expects economic growth of 1.3%, which is also unchanged from last month’s forecast.
