Belgium: Economic growth eases in Q3

According to a preliminary estimate released by the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) on 30 October, GDP in Q3 expanded a seasonally-adjusted 0.2% over the previous quarter. This marks a slight deceleration from the 0.5% tallied in Q2 (previously reported 0.4%).

Compared to the same period last year, GDP growth decelerated from 1.5% in Q2 (previously reported 1.3%) to 1.3% in Q3. More detailed data will be published on 28 November.

The Federal Planning Bureau (FPB) expects the economy to increase 1.2% in 2015. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect the economy to expand 1.3% in 2015, which is unchanged over the previous month’s Consensus. For 2016, the panel expects economic growth to pick up to 1.5%, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast.
