Belarus: Inflation hits fresh multi-year low in February

Consumer prices rose 0.5% in February from the previous month, down from January’s 0.9% increase. According to the National Statistical Committee, February’s increase came on the back of higher prices for food and services.

Inflation cooled in February, dropping to 7.0% from 9.5% in January. This marked the lowest reading since July 2010. Annual average inflation was 11.2% in February, below January’s 11.7% and also a multi-year low.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see inflation averaging 10.3% in 2017, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. In 2018, panelists expect inflation to average 9.1%.
