Belarus: Inflation falls in July

Consumer prices fell 0.1% in July over the previous month, contrasting June’s 0.7% increase. According to the National Statistical Committee, lower prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages generated the decline, along with a fall in the prices for hotels, cafes and restaurants.

Likewise, inflation fell to 6.0% in July from June’s 6.5%. Consequently, annual average inflation dropped to 8.5% in July from 9.1% in June—the lowest in over six years.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see inflation averaging 9.2% in 2017, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. In 2018, panelists expect inflation to average 8.8%.
