Belarus: Industrial production rebounds in October

In October, industrial production expanded 0.3% over the same month last year, which was a five-month high and contrasted September’s 0.9% decline. According to the National Statistical Committee (BELSTAT), the improvement came from a rebound in energy production as well as softer declines in mining and quarrying and in water supply.

The overall trend improved in October, as annual average growth in industrial production jumped up from minus 2.5% in September to minus 1.9%, the best figure observed since July 2015.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see industrial production contracting 0.9% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s Consensus. For 2017, panelists see industrial production returning to growth and expanding 0.9%, which is also unchanged from last month’s projection.
