Belarus: Industrial production growth shoots up in October

November 16, 2017

In October, industrial production growth accelerated to 8.1% over the same month of the previous year, up from the 6.1% year-on-year growth recorded in September.

October’s print reflected an upsurge in manufacturing output and weaker expansions in the mining and quarrying, and water supply, waste management and remediation activities sectors. Growth in these sectors more than offset a contraction in the electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioning sector.

Annual average growth in industrial production shot up in tandem, rising to a nearly five-year high of 6.1% in October, up from 5.5% in September.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists project industrial production expanding 2.7% in 2018, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2019, panelists expect industrial production to rise 2.8%.
