Austria: Industrial production contracts in September
November 25, 2016
In September, industrial production contracted 0.5% over the previous month in seasonally-adjusted terms. This contrasted the 1.6% expansion recorded in August. September’s result was largely driven by contractions in the electricity and water supply sectors, while growth in the manufacturing sector was flat. The mining and quarrying sector, on the other hand, returned to growth.
In annual terms, industrial production grew 2.6% in September, which was up from the 2.3% expansion recorded in August. Annual average growth in industrial production in September was 1.8%, above August’s 1.6% mark and the highest print since May 2013.
