Austria Industry March 2017

Austria: Industrial production contracts in March

May 24, 2017

In March, industrial production in Austria contracted 0.4% over the previous month in seasonally adjusted terms, contrasting February’s 2.3% expansion. March’s deterioration was driven by a slowdown in the manufacturing sector, as well as a steeper contraction in the water supply sector.

In annual terms, industrial production grew 3.3% in March, which was below the 3.8% registered in February. However, annual average growth in industrial production in March was 1.8%, up from February’s 1.7%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists project that industrial production will increase 2.8% in 2017, which is up 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2018, the panel expects that industrial production will increase 2.6%.
