Austria: Industrial production accelerates in November

January 25, 2017

In November, industrial production in Austria rose 0.9% over the previous month in seasonally adjusted terms. This followed the 0.4% expansion recorded in October. November’s result was largely driven by accelerations in the manufacturing and mining and quarrying sectors, which more than compensated for the slowdown in the electricity and gas sector and the steeper contraction in the water supply sector.

In annual terms, industrial production grew 2.3% in November, which was up from the 1.4% expansion recorded in October. Annual average growth in industrial production in November was 1.3%, marginally below October’s 1.4% mark and the lowest print in just over a year.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists project that industrial production will increase 2.0% in 2017, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2018, the panel expects that industrial production will increase 2.3%.
