Austria: Industrial production posts timid growth in November

January 25, 2016

In November, industrial output rose a seasonally-adjusted 0.2% over the previous month. The result marked a smaller expansion than October’s 0.9%. November’s slowdown mainly reflects that manufacturing and electricity as well as gas production swung into contraction. Conversely, mining and quarrying as well as water supply recovered in November.

Compared to the same month of the previous year, industrial production expanded a working-day adjusted 2.6% in November, which followed October’s 1.8% increase. Annual average growth in industrial production advanced from October’s 0.3% to 0.7% in November.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 2.1% this year, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2017, panelists expect growth in industrial production to grow 2.0%.
