Austria: Industrial production falls in July

September 25, 2014

In July, industrial output decreased a seasonally-adjusted 1.0% over the previous month. The reading contrasted the 1.8% increase observed in June. The monthly contraction was driven by decreases in mining and quarrying, manufacturing output, and water supply.

Compared to the same month last year, industrial production swung from a working-day adjusted 1.6% increase in June to a 1.2% contraction in July. As a result of the deterioration registered in July, annual average growth in industrial production ticked down from 0.9% in June to 0.8%.

Focus FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to rise 2.9% this year, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2015, participants expect industrial output to pick up to 3.6%.
