Austria Consumer Confidence June 2017

Austria: Consumer confidence stable at multi-year high in June

June 30, 2017

The consumer confidence index produced by Fessel-GfK was stable in June at May’s 4 points. The index therefore remains above the 0-point threshold, indicating that optimists outnumber pessimists. The index had been below zero from September 2011 until March 2016.

May’s encouraging print was the result of continued improvement in consumers’ assessment of the general economic situation and the labor market in the months ahead.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect private consumption to expand 1.5% in 2017, which is up 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2018, panelists see private consumption rising 1.2%.
