Austria Consumer Confidence November 2016

Austria: Consumer confidence remains stable and in negative territory in November

December 12, 2016

The Austrian consumer confidence index produced by Fessel-GfK was stable in November. The indicator remained at October’s minus 9 and therefore well below the 0-point threshold, indicating that pessimists outnumber optimists. The index has been below zero since 2011.

November’s result reflected households’ broadly unchanged expectations regarding labor market developments over the next 12 months and the overall economic situation.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect private consumption to expand 1.1% in 2017, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2018, panelists see private consumption rising 1.4%.
