Austria: Consumer confidence inches down in July

The consumer confidence index elaborated by Fessel-GfK inched down from June’s minus 11 points to minus 12 points in July. As a result, the index remains entrenched below the 0-point threshold, which indicates that pessimists outnumber optimists.
July’s result partly reflected consumers’ more pessimistic assessments regarding both the current and future economic situation. In addition, consumers’ were more pessimistic regarding employment prospects and the current financial situation.
