Argentina: Industrial production growth decelerates in July

August 26, 2015

In July, industrial production increased 0.6% over the same month last year. The reading was below the 0.9% expansion seen in the previous month. July’s result was mainly driven by an increase in production of tobacco and textiles.

On a monthly basis, industrial production in July expanded 0.3% in seasonally-adjusted terms, which was below the 1.2% increase seen in June and marked a four-month low. Annual average variation in industrial production advanced from minus 1.6% in June to minus 1.5% in July, which marked the highest reading since April 2014.

LatinFocus Consensus Forecast panel participants expect that industrial production will decrease 1.0% in 2015, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2016, the panel expects industrial production to increase 2.3%.
