Argentina: Consumer confidence rises in May
The Universidad Torcuato di Tella (UTDT) consumer confidence index increased to 36.3 in May from 35.7 in April. Therefore, the index remained entrenched below the 50-threshold that separates optimism from pessimism among consumers.
Consumers’ willingness to purchase big ticket items strengthened. On the other hand, they grew more pessimistic over their future financial situation and their expectations over the general economic conditions in the year ahead deteriorated.
