Argentina: Consumer confidence drops in February
February 17, 2011
In February, the consumer confidence index, published by the Universidad Torcuato di Tella (UTDT), fell to 54.0 points, dropping 1.7 points from the 55.7 points recorded in January which had marked the highest level since March 2007. Despite the drop, the index of consumer confidence remains above the 50-point threshold separating optimism from pessimism. While consumers were more optimistic about the economic outlook, they expressed a less favourable opinion regarding their personal finances. As a consequence, respondents' willingness to buy durable consumer goods moderated compared to January.
