Angola: Upward trend in inflation continues, reaches over-four-year high

In September, consumer prices rose 1.22% over the previous month, which was above the 1.15% increase recorded in August. September’s reading marks the fourth-highest reading of the year.

Inflation soared from 11.0% in August to 11.7% in September, which was the highest level since September 2011. In addition, annual average inflation increased from 8.4% in August to 8.8% in September, a reading last seen in December 2013.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panel participants expect inflation to be at 9.9% in 2015, which is up 0.2 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2016, the panel sees inflation registering 10.7% which is up 10.7 percentage points from last month’s forecast.
