Angola: Inflation rises in March to over one-year high

April 23, 2015

In March, consumer prices rose 0.63% over the previous month, which followed the 0.76% increase observed in February and marked the slowest increase in four months. According to the statistical office, the figure mainly reflected higher prices for food and non-alcoholic drinks.

Annual inflation rose from 7.7% in February to 7.9% in March, which was the highest level in over a year. However, annual average inflation was stable at the previous month’s 7.3%, thus remaining at a five-month high.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect inflation to be at 9.2% in 2015, which is up 0.1 percentage points over last month’s projection. For 2016, the panel sees inflation falling to 8.1%.
