Angola: Inflation rises in December

According to the Statistical Institute (Instituto Nacional de Estadística), consumer prices in the province of Luanda rose 1.5% in December from the previous month, ticking up from November’s 1.4% rise.

Inflation in the province of Luanda accelerated for the third consecutive month, clocking in at 18.2% in December, from 17.8% in November. Meanwhile, annual average inflation continued to fall in December, coming in at a 30-month low of 20.3%, from 21.0% in the previous month.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see inflation moderating gradually going forward and expect it to average 16.4% in 2019, down 0.3 percentage points from last month’s projection, and 13.6% in 2020.
