Angola: Inflation in August soars to highest rate in over three years

In August, consumer prices rose 1.15% over the previous month, which was below the 1.35% increase recorded in the previous month. July’s reading had marked the highest value since December 2011.

Inflation soared from 10.4% in July to 11.0% in August, which was the highest level since March 2012. In addition, annual average inflation increased from 8.1% in July to 8.4% in August, thus reaching the highest reading in over a year.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect inflation to be at 9.2% in 2015, which is up 0.1 percentage points over last month’s projection. For 2016, the panel sees inflation falling to 8.1%.
