Angola: Inflation declines in November

Consumer prices in the province of Luanda rose 1.02% in November from the previous month, coming in below October’s 2.98% month-on-month increase. According to the National Statistical Institute (Instituto Nacional de Estatística), November’s print was driven by a soft increase in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages and clothing and footwear. It marked the softest month-on-month increase in price levels since April 2015.

Inflation moderated from 29.0% in October to 27.6% in November. Consequently, annual average inflation declined from 34.1% in October to 33.5% in November.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation of 18.6% in 2018, which is up 0.7 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2019, the panel sees inflation of 13.6%.
