The Research Assistant (RA) will support FocusEconomics in the daily activities related to the collection of economic data in the Data Team and will work to ensure high level of data quality for our Research Team and clients. This also means the RA will play a role in data validation and in the post-production process of the company's publications.

The Research Assistant will have the opportunity to acquire an advanced use of Excel, basic programming skills (SQL and VBA) and be familiar with InDesign, ADOBE Acrobat Pro, Outlook, Refinitiv (Thomson Reuters database), Macrobond, Salesforce, OneHub, Bluematrix and some relevant databases (international organizations, statistical institutes, credit rating agencies, etc.).

In order to foster Research Assistant’s knowledge and support their professional career, the company will sponsor a certificated course in one of the aforementioned skills.


  • Uploading panelist forecasts in a timely manner
  • Download and save all the panelist files received or published during the day
  • Transpose the information received from the panelists into our own templates
  • Double-validation: revise the update of other team members to ensure the quality of the upload
  • Upload the forecasts to the database using our add-in in Excel or Python

Economic data handling

  • Collect economic data and information from other sources, such as credit rating agencies
  • Identify, based on historical data, if the forecasts contain the right definition of the economic indicator, leading to the upload of suitable data

Post-production and release of content to other platforms

  • Produce individual country editions using InDesign and keep the content up-to-date
  • Upload client products to all the platforms in a timely manner
  • Update and upload special client content

Support to the department

  • Document and update the documentation that affects his/her areas of responsibility
  • Assist with the onboarding of RAs by completing the training blocks assigned by the new recruit’s mentor


  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Economics, Statistics or related field
  • Intermediate Excel knowledge
  • Interest in Macroeconomics
  • Fluent in Spanish or English, basic knowledge of the other language
