In August, consumer prices rose 0.63% over the previous month, which contrasted the 0.29% drop recorded in July and marked the first rise after two consecutive drops. The reading was driven by higher prices for healthcare as well as for housing and construction materials. Despite the monthly pick-up, annual inflation fell from 5.4% in July to 5.0% in August, which marked the lowest rate since November 2009. Accordingly, annual average inflation fell from 14.9% in July to 13.4% in August.
