In September, industrial output expanded 9.7% over the same month last year, which was more than double the 4.4% increase observed in August. The improvement was driven by a strong growth in manufacturing output (September: +9.6% year-on-year; August: +2.7% yoy), as well in electricity, gas and water (September: +13.0% yoy; August: +7.3% yoy). In contrast, water supply and waste management deteriorated compared to the previous month, while mining and quarrying kept the pace recorded in August. A month-on-month comparison, corroborates the improvement suggested by the annual data, as industrial production expanded a seasonally adjusted 4.6% over the previous month, which was above the 4.1% increase recorded in August.
