In July, industrial production expanded 8.7% over the same month last year, which came in slightly below the 8.9% expansion tallied in June. This moderation was the result of a weaker expansion in manufacturing, which was partly offset by stronger growth in the mining sector. Furthermore, growth in the production and distribution of electricity, natural gas and water picked up over the previous month. Owing to the strong reading, annual average industrial growth stepped up from 9.2% in June to 9.4% in July.
