In November, consumer prices rose 0.3% over the previous month, which came in above the flat reading recorded in October. Higher prices for food as well as for clothing and shoes were the main drivers behind the monthly price rise. In spite of the pronounced price increase, annual headline inflation remained flat at 1.0% in November. Annual average harmonised inflation (based on the harmonised index of consumer prices, HICP), rose from 0.4% in September to 0.5% in October (the latest month for which data are available). The Central Bank expects annual average harmonised inflation to reach 0.9% this year. Next year, the Central Bank expects annual average harmonised inflation to accelerate to 3.8%.
