Slovakia Inflation

Consumer prices continue to fall in March

In March, consumer prices increased 0.1% over the previous month (February: +0.0%). The monthly print mainly reflects higher prices for recreation and culture as well as for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels.

Despite the monthly rise, annual headline inflation fell from 2.2% in February to 1.9% in March. Meanwhile, annual average HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) inched down from 3.6% in January to 3.5% in February, the latest month for which data are available.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect HICP inflation to average 2.4% this year, which is down 0.3 percentage points over the previous month's forecast. In 2014, the panel expects HICP inflation to inch up to 2.6%.
