In October, industrial production expanded 6.5% over the same month last year, which was below both the 7.4% increase recorded in September and market expectations of a 7.2% rise. According to the Central Statistical Office (CSO), output increased in the majority of categories surveyed, particularly in the manufacture of basic metals and metal products. On a month-on-month basis, industrial production declined a seasonally adjusted 0.2% over the previous month, which contrasted the 1.9% increase in September. The trend continued to deteriorate, with annual average growth in industrial production falling from 7.6% in September to 7.4% in October.
