According to the Central Statistical Office's Business Tendency Survey (GUS-BTS), the general business climate index rose from minus 6.9 points in December to minus 5.1 points in January. Thus, the index remained below the zero-point threshold that separates pessimism from optimism for the fourth consecutive month, suggesting deteriorating prospects for fixed investment going forward. In annual terms, business confidence is 2.8 points below the same period last year. In general, businesses were mostly pessimistic regarding domestic and foreign order books as well as current production. On the other hand, businesses were most optimistic regarding the evolution of prices for their products.
