In July, the new composite business confidence indicator (IESE, Istat Economic Sentiment Indicator) elaborated by ISTAT - which covers the manufacturing, construction, service and retail sectors - picked up to 81.8 from 75.8 in June, marking a rebound after three consecutive drops. The improvement in the overall index was driven by a strong result in the services sector, which more than compensated for a deterioration in all the remaining categories.
