In December, industrial production contracted a seasonally and working-day adjusted 4.7% over the same month the year before, which was less than the 6.7% drop in November (previously reported: -3.9% year-on-year). On a monthly basis, industrial production increased a seasonally adjusted 2.5% over the previous month, which contrasted the 12.7% decrease recorded in November. The reading mainly reflected an increase in a number of high-technology and chemical sectors. In the full year 2011, industrial production increased 1.2%, which was markedly below the 7.9% expansion observed in 2010.
